The Prime Cube Embedded Control Concept
The Prime cube embedded control platform "CXB" is based upon COM Express modules allowing scalability in performance and introducing technological developments rapidly.
A module combines all relevant PC components. It requires a base board providing all physical interfaces and more. It also contains specific embedded control functions.

The Prime cube embedded control functions:
- Highly efficient power supply that can bypass at least four milliseconds of power failure.
- Powerfail detection and up to 2 MB of non-volatile memory (MRAM) for buffering remanent data.
- Start-stop-button
- CAN on board
- Integrated digital I/Os as option
- Two real-time capable Ethernet interfaces
An I/O module with 24 freely programmable I/Os, an integrated CAN interface and two real-time capable Ethernet interfaces are available. Further field bus protocols can be implemented with a PCI or PCI-Express card.

APIs and drivers for all specific control functions are available, e.g. for saving remanent data to MRAM and restarting the PLC runtime when a powerfail event occurs.
All embedded control systems are available as multi core systems with hardware-based virtualization in order to operate two different operating systems to independently of each other on a single system.
